Maureen Denise McCormick was born on 5 August 1956 in Woodland Hills California the youngest and only daughter of Richard McCormick and Irene McCormick. Her mother was at home and also mother to her children. She has three older brothers: Michael Dennis and Kevin. From a young stage of life, McCormick enjoyed singing and dance, and she would frequently put on puppet shows for the neighborhood children. Her fairytale rise to fame started when she won the Baby Miss San Fernando Valley contest in the age group of 6 which led to an inquiry from talent agent Pat Domigan of the Jack Wormser Agency who asked if she would like to be in show business. McCormick was commissioned to perform in her first big performance in 1964 on a tv commercial for Mattels new doll, Baby Pattaburp. The following year she appeared in the company's Chatty Cathy Doll and was soon chosen to play the La Jolla Playhouse play Wind ItUp and ItBreaks. The Brady Bunch McCormick's audition was among 1200 other children to play the oldest towheaded girl in The Brady Bunch. The show starred Florence Henderson and Robert Reed newlyweds, who shared the same family as a blended one. It lasted five years. McCormick's book Heres the Story, Surviving Marcia Brady: Finding My True Voice was published in 2008. She revealed in it the fact that McCormick almost lost her virginity on sets of the show in the fifth season, when she was a victim to Barry Williams. He was just 19. She was 16. It was likely that we would have a romantic couple, she added. However, the timing was not right.
