In America, the early performing arts accomplishments of young Maureen FitzSimons (who we know as Maureen O'Hara) would definitely have put her in the prodigy child category. This was a natural trait for a child born in Ireland, surrounded by gifted parents and a loving, supportive family. Maureen arrived in this nurturing haven, August 17, 1920. Charles FitzSimons managed a Dublin-based company and was the owner of a portion in "The Shamrock Rovers" a renowned Irish soccer squad. Maureen FitzSimons was the daughter of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy, Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons complete this wonderful family. Maureen was a great athlete and played rough, athletic sports when she was a young. Her passion was coupled with the natural ability to perform. She took home almost every Feis Award for Drama and Theatre Performance that her country had to give. Her acceptance at the Abbey Theater by age 14 She then continued to pursue her dream of opera as well as classical theater and singing.
