Tina Louise

Tina Tina Amanda AmandaMaureen excelled at sports and was a fan of rough, competitive sporting events. She combined this interest with an equally natural gift for acting. Her talent was exemplified by getting almost every Feis award for drama and theatrical performing her country offered. As a teenager, she had been accepted into the Abbey Theater, where her love of classical theatre as well as operatic music was pursued. Charles Laughton was mesmerized after taking a Maureen screen test. He became captivated by the stunning eyes of Maureen. Laughton changed her name to Maureen FitzSimons changed from Maureen FitzSimons, to "Maureen O'Hara" that was a shorter form of her last name. The name change happened shortly before Laughton made her a part in Jamaica Inn. In contract with Laughton the next film of Maureen's was to be filmed at home in America (The Hunchback and Notre Dame (1939)) through RKO Pictures. Maureen's contract with Laughton was purchased by RKO when this movie had such an enormous successful. Maureen was 19 when she starred with Laughton in two films.
